Guilavogui ‘hangs head in shame’ after what Sam Chambers did in Leeds v Millwall

Josuha Guilavogui can hang his head in shame after what Sam Chambers did for Leeds United in their 2-0 FA Cup defeat against Millwall on Saturday.

Leeds bowed out of the FA Cup after a loss at Elland Road on 8 February, with goals from Femi Azeez in either half getting the job done for the Lions.

Daniel Farke made 10 changes to the team that beat Coventry City 2-0 on Wednesday (5 February), with Guilavogui given a rare start and Chambers handed his full debut for the Whites.

Sam Chambers embarrasses Josuha Guilavogui

It is worth noting that Guilavogu is the oldest player in the Leeds squad, having turned 34 in September, meaning he is twice as old as 17-year-old Chambers.

However, despite his age and experience, the Frenchman failed to turn up for the Elland Road outfit against Millwall.

With the West Yorkshire club now out of all cup competitions, it would not be a surprise if Guilavogui does not start for them ever again.

On an afternoon when Farke relied on his experience, the seven-time France international produced what might have been his worst performance in a Leeds shirt.

Meanwhile, starting just ahead of him in midfield was Chambers.

The teenager made his debut for the Championship club in their 3-0 win against Plymouth on 2 November, coming on as a second-half substitute.

Despite his lack of experience, the attacker seemed to be the most assured player on the pitch for Farke’s side.

Chambers did not shy away from taking the Millwall defenders on and also came close to scoring on one occasion.

Sam Chambers to get more chances at Leeds United

The game against Millwall might have been Guilavogui’s last start for the club before his contract expires at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, we are certain to see more of Chambers moving forward and one can only hope that he gets more chances between now and the end of the season after what he did on Saturday.

Many fans and pundits wanted Leeds to sign a new attacking midfielder in the recently concluded transfer window, but Chambers may soon prove why they did not sign one.
