Andrea Radrizzani can seal instant £5m+ windfall from wages alone if he sells Leeds United ace Rodrigo
Leeds United star Rodrigo has not enjoyed the best of two-year spells of his career since moving to Elland Road from Valencia after promotion to the Premier League.
The Spaniard could be facing an uncertain summer if interest comes his way, with Jesse Marsch potentially having a decision to make over his future.
Andrea Radrizzani, who is in still in control of the club, could step in and make this easier for him.
Could the Italian put his foot down and decide to bomb Rodrigo out of the club?
The Times shared back in 2020 that the club-record signing was on £100,000-a-week in wages alone after arriving for £27million, and can he truly say he has been worth that?
We would say not so far, although there has been glimpses of the skill he possesses – something he certainly did not show in our final few games of the 2021-22 season when fighting for survival.
Radrizzani stepping in and making that decision to get rid could pocket him an instant £5.2million per year in wages alone – something that is huge for the club.
Time to go?
At this stage of his career, there is no chance that Rodrigo will be getting a new contract.
With his value diminishing each year that passes, it may be time for Leeds to start evaluating their squad and seeing who can be moved on without hurting their quality too much.
Rodrigo doesn’t fit into either role of being a number nine, or in the new attacking midfield role that Marsch uses, and is between them two which doesn’t help us.
Brenden Aaronson has since arrived and strikers are expected to be targeted as well as another midfielder, so does the Spaniard then become expendable?
Time will tell, but Radrizzani would certainly contemplate it to get those huge wages of his weekly bill which could even free up funds to secure a new contract for Kalvin Phillips.
The possibilities are endless with this one, and it will be interesting to see if the Spaniard is shown the exit door.
