49ers intervention set to give Leeds United welcome boost against Cardiff City

Daniel Farke looks set to solve the set-piece issues at Leeds United, with 49ers Enterprises stepping in to assist.

Speaking prior to the Whites facing Cardiff City on 21 September, Farke said that the club are addressing their lack of potency from set-pieces, via both their data team and the support of their American investors.

He added that US company have been brought into the fold to help highlight the deficiencies in United’s setup at corners and free-kicks, and this could crack the code to unlocking Cardiff at set-pieces.

In his pre-match press conference (19 September), Farke said: “I have to praise also how much workload we put into this topic.

“We have our data people, also with support from the Americans – we have a company that we work with in order to really put the spotlight on it, and I will just celebrate it once we actually score a goal.”

49ers influence can pay dividends for Leeds United v Cardiff City

It’s perhaps ominous that the last time United faced Wales-based opposition in the league, they scored from a corner – but that Crysencio Summerville goal at Swansea remains the last time they did so.

Completing the circle with a set-piece goal against Cardiff would justify Farke’s faith in the club’s data team, aided by the intervention of their US-based data partners.

The likes of Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk – who netted the Peacocks’ opening-day penalty against Portsmouth – will be the players highlighted as the club’s biggest threats in such situations.

However, if an influx of set-piece data from both internal and external sources has encouraged Farke to change things up against the Bluebirds, the Whites could be set to attempt some surprising routines.

In order for Farke’s side to maximise their array of attacking talents throughout each and every game, the 49ers’ external influence may be the key to making United dangerous at set-pieces once again.
