Leeds United: Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen hit by injury, Inverness CT loanee now out for months
Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen will be out for several months after the Leeds United youngster picked up a back injury, according to LUFC Youth.
The Whites academy-focused outlet reported via Twitter on 3 March that the teenage defender was set to be sidelined for a “number of months” with the problem.
The 19-year-old joined Inverness Caledonian Thistle on loan in January and had made three starts for the Scottish Championship side.
But it looks like he is now faced with an extended recovery time in what will be a major set back to his development.
Leeds United youngster ruled out long-term after January loan exit
It goes without saying that a serious injury set-back is the last thing that any player wants, but having just made the step up to his first run in senior football this will be a huge frustration.
The Scotland Under-21 international had been a regular for his country and for the Whites at that level prior to his move this term.
Chilokoa-Mullen had been on the bench three times with the first team in the Premier League last season to show that there are high hopes for him at Elland Road.
But it looks like any progression into Daniel Farke’s set up has been pushed back some way, if he now has a lengthy rehabilitation ahead of him.
The pathway from the academy set up to the first team hasn’t been fruitful enough in recent years, although the star emergence of Archie Gray is helping to make up for that, but Chilokoa-Mullen won’t be in a position to contribute for a while.
Another loan would presumably be the next step once he is fit again, as back injury doesn’t sound like one that would put him in contention to feature for Inverness CT again before the end of the campaign.
