Leeds United exit: Another striker heads out on loan from Elland Road

Leeds United youngster Luca Thomas has joined Vanarama National League outfit FC Halifax Town on loan.

The Whites confirmed that the 20-year-old would join the Shaymen for the rest of the 2024/25 season in a post on X (16 January).

It is his second loan spell of the campaign after he spent the first half of the season at York City, featuring 10 times and scoring twice.

The striker is out of contact in the summer and his latest loan spell could determine whether he has a future at Elland Road or elsewhere.

Make or break for Leeds United ace

Paul Robinson told MOT Leeds News in December that he believes Daniel Farke will hold talks with the youngster in the summer over a potential future at the club.

The Englishman is yet to make his first-team debut at Elland Road but scored six goals and notched one assist in five Premier League Two matches before his spell at York.

With Joe Gelhardt already out on loan and Patrick Bamford’s future up in the air, he could get a chance if he can impress in the National League again.

However, if he fails to make the required impact at non-league level, he could find himself looking for a new club at the end of the season as it is unlikely that will make it with the Whites if he cannot perform with Halifax.

His stint at the Shay could prove to be a make-or-break situation and will determine the trajectory of his career.

In other Leeds news, the Whites could be set to use a loophole to secure a January transfer target.
