Leeds United don’t need Emi Buendia after what happened at Fratton Park

Leeds United are continuing to monitor Aston Villa forward Emi Buendia ahead of the January transfer window, but that is a stance the club may want to reconsider.

According to Beren Cross via Leeds Live [16 December], the Argentine remains on Daniel Farke’s wishlist, and while a January loan move remains “unlikely”, the reporter claims this move is one to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

However, Farke may need to reconsider his transfer plans at Elland Road – the answer to his forward line could already be plying his trade at Thorp Arch.

Harvey Vincent sends a strong statement to Daniel Farke at Leeds United

Paco Gallardo took his Leeds Under-18s side to the South Coast to face Portsmouth in the FA Youth Cup on Monday [16 December], and Vincent put on an attacking clinic at Fratton Park.

The 17-year-old contributed two assists for his teammates in the 3-2 win, the first coming after he beat four opposition defenders before delivering an inch-perfect cross to Jacob Render.

Vincent terrorised the Portsmouth backline throughout his 84 minutes on the pitch and found room to manoeuvre on the right flank again, putting the ball on a plate for Josh McDonald to double the visitors’ advantage.

He could have added to his goal contributions tally on the night had McDonald converted his second opportunity created by Vincent, but the forward’s strike cannoned off the woodwork.

The Whites have been yearning for consistent results at the academy level, and one young winger has answered those calls.

It is only a matter of time before Farke notices Vincent’s efforts at Thorp Arch – he has scored nine goals and added five assists in 34 appearances in the Under-18s Premier League.

Leeds boasts a talented collection of forwards in the first team – adding Buendia into the mix would be more counter-productive than giving an academy prospect a chance to shine at Elland Road.
