Leeds Under-23 striker confirms injury on Instagram

Leeds United Under-23 striker Max Dean has posted a picture of himself wearing a protective boot on his Instagram page.

The 17-year-old has been in good form this season, scoring four goals for Mark Jackson’s side in eight Premier League 2 appearances.

He’s started six of these but missed the game against Newcastle on Monday.

In his absence, Joe Gelhardt scored one and made one in a 2-1 win against Newcastle.

Dean posted the image with a broken heart emoji, so we hope it’s not too serious.

Exciting times for U23s

It’s been an exciting season for Dean and the Leeds Under-23s. Dean has been playing alongside big-name (for the under-23s) stars like Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood and he hasn’t looked out of place.

Dean has also played eight times for the Under-18s as he makes the step up to the second-string side.

He’ll have seen Gelhardt get on the bench for Premier League clashes and Greenwood make his first-team debut in the FA Cup.

Bielsa follows all the Under-23s games and it will give players like Dean hope that he’s got a path up into the senior squad, at least for training to start with.

That would be a huge step for the youngster who we signed from Everton in the summer.

He’s only just turned 17 and Leeds Live think that he will be in line for an improved deal from the club.

We hope the injury isn’t bad and that Dean will be back soon.
