Leeds U23 team suggests 19y/o could be involved v QPR for first time since Aug

It’s always good to see the Leeds Under-23s play just before a first-team clash.

The synergy between the two teams means that you can get a good few hints about who will be involved and who’s likely to miss out or be sat on Marcelo Bielsa’s bench.

Illan Meslier starting in goal means that Kiko Casilla will be almost certain to retain the gloves at Loftus Road. We were expecting that, despite Kiko’s poor form and Meslier’s top display against Arsenal.

Some fans want it but this isn’t the time to drop your number one keeper.

Elsewhere, Leif Davis, Oliver Casey, Jamie Shackleton and Robbie Gotts aren’t involved which suggests they’ll be in the squad tomorrow.

Another youngster who could well make the squad for the first time since last August is 19-year-old Alfie McCalmont.

He’s made the bench three times in the league this season and could be lined up for another shot at making his Championship debut against QPR.

It’s not a cert. McCalmont has been the extra man in the squad a few times this season but this could indicate that there’s a place in the 18 for him.
