Connor Douglas hailed after what he did for Leeds United Under-21s v Gateshead
Scott Gardner hailed Leeds United Under-21s ace Connor Douglas after the 2-1 win against Gateshead in the National League Cup.
The Whites left Tyneside victorious on 6 November and outclassed the National League side on all levels.
Speaking to LUTV after the game, Gardner shared his thoughts on the performance of the winger.
“He’s been excellent, you wouldn’t know he’s been out for the best part of a year,” he said.
“In the three games he’s played, I think he’s been fantastic”.
Leeds United Academy keeps producing stellar youth talent
In the summer transfer window, Douglas extended his stay with the West Yorkshire outfit for a further two years which outlines the belief the club has in him.
It’s well known that Leeds’ academy is one of the best around. Many players who have come through Thorp Arch have gone on to have long and prosperous careers.
The most recent of academy graduates to have left West Yorkshire is Archie Gray. The midfielder joined Tottenham in the summer for a fee worth around £30million despite only having one season of senior-level football under his belt.

While things haven’t gone too well for the 18-year-old as Tottenham could move him to a team on loan for the second half of the season, it’s hard to deny the talent he possesses.
If the Whites continue producing talent as strong as Gray, it feels near-impossible that they won’t find their way back into the top flight shortly.
In other Leeds news, Adam Pope has shared his promotion verdict on the Whites after their 1-0 loss against Millwall.
