Brenden Aaronson ‘ultimatum to emerge amid Leeds contract update’
Daniel Farke has to show he has a viable alternative to Brenden Aaronson after one Leeds United youngster signed a new contract.
Aaronson has become one of the first names on the team sheet for Farke this season despite his form being hit-and-miss at Elland Road, regularly starting in the number 10 role of his 4-2-3-1 formation.
In fact, since coming off the bench against Portsmouth and West Brom in Leeds’ first two games of the season, Aaronson has started 34 Championship matches in a row, returning eight goals and two assists.
A lack of options in attacking midfield is seen as the reason behind Aaronson’s constant presence in the side despite his inconsistency, but Farke could be presented with a solution from within Thorp Arch itself.

Sam Chambers signs new Leeds United contract
The production line of Leeds United youngsters has kept on ticking over regardless of the first-team’s fortunes down the years, and one of the latest cabs off the rank at Elland Road is Sam Chambers.
Leeds confirmed via their website on 10 March that Chambers had signed a new deal until 2028 in LS11, penning the three-year deal on his 18th birthday having made his first-team debut earlier this season.
Chambers has been part of the Peacocks’ academy setup since 2015 and started against Millwall in last month’s FA Cup fourth-round defeat, providing Farke with a versatile attacking option if he’s called upon.

Leeds have clear Aaronson deputy after Chambers update
Though it’s unlikely that Chambers will be thrown in at the deep end to start Leeds’ Championship re-match with Millwall on Wednesday, including the teenager on the bench would be wise on Farke’s part.
Calls for the likes of Wilfried Gnonto, Largie Ramazani and regular starter Manor Solomon to play in the number 10 role ahead of Aaronson have so far fallen on deaf ears, with no like-for-like replacement clear.
Player | Appearances | Starts | Goals | Assists | Yellow Cards |
Brenden Aaronson | 36 | 34 | 8 | 2 | 1 |
Chambers, however could prove to be exactly that, and with a rest arguably being the best thing for Aaronson at the moment, Farke must give minutes to the American’s closest available stand-in.
Harry Gray’s performances for Leeds’ academy haven’t gone unnoticed, and with Chambers committing his future to the club, it is time for that faith to be repaid with game-time in what’s become a problem position at Elland Road.
