Live from Thorp Arch: Casey delivers nine-word response when asked if he will play v Hull

By Mark Smith at Thorp Arch

Oliver Casey has said he doesn’t know yet if he’s going to be involved in the Championship clash with Hull City on Tuesday night.

The 19-year-old centre-back was a beneficiary of Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper missing out on the game against Huddersfield.

He made an assured debut, coming on in the 85th minute and getting almost ten minutes of action under his belt at the John Smith’s stadium.

He looked calm and composed, completed all of his passes and made a couple of important interceptions. He certainly won’t have done his chances of more first-team game-time any harm.

Phillips was suspended after picking up five yellows and Cooper was injured. Phillips is going straight back into the side against Hull on Tuesday, but Cooper has been ruled out again. He might be back for Saturday.

Casey played the second 45 minutes for the Under-23s today in a 1-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday – their fourth victory in a row with the senior side currently on a run of six.

Mateusz Bogusz got the goal after a cross from Alfie McCalmont.

We grabbed Casey for a quick chat about tomorrow and asked him if he would be involved again with Phillips coming back.

“I’m not sure yet,” Casey said. “I should find out later”.

Casey, Barry Douglas and Eddie Nketiah were the three subs who came on against Huddersfield.
