YEP journalist says what FA may do with loan deals & what is likely to happen with Jack Harrison
Manchester City are unlikely to make it difficult for Leeds United to extend their loan agreement for Jack Harrison, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth.
Harrison, 23, has been one of the stars of the season at Elland Road this term, scoring five goals and supplying seven assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.
The former New York City winger was almost at the end of his second season on loan with Leeds until the coronavirus pandemic brought football to a halt last week, but the Whites do have the option to sign him permanently in the summer.
There is a chance that the suspended season will be completed past June 30, which would mean that clubs might have to re-arrange loan deals that would have usually ended on that date.
Smyth claims that the FA is likely to put measures in place to ensure loan deals continue until the season is concluded but with Harrison, there’s a good chance Leeds won’t have any difficulties.
“I can’t see Manchester City making life difficult for Leeds, not when there’s a permanent deal likely to happen in that particular instance,” Smyth said on the Yorkshire Evening Post website.
“The FA may consider putting something in place that prevents recalls until the competitions are completed, so clubs don’t attempt to strengthen their squads or negotiating power by taking their players back.”
Harrison isn’t the only player Leeds have on loan.
Helder Costa is in a similar boat to Harrison but his permanent move to Elland Road will definitely happen.
Then there are Jean-Kevin Augustin and Illan Meslier, who Leeds are also reported to have an option to buy if they like.
Ben White is perhaps the one to worry about though with the Whites not having an agreement with Brighton to sign the defender from them.
It remains to be seen what will happen with him.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are keen on a player who was once compared to Dani Alves.
