Wolves prepare transfer bid for £25m-rated Viktor Gyokeres after Leeds United sent scouts to watch him

Wolves are preparing a bid for £25m-rated Viktor Gyokeres this summer and will rival Leeds United for his signature, according to talkSPORT.

Gyokeres has notched 21 goals in the Championship this season for Coventry City, and has attracted plenty of attention from several Premier League clubs.

The Whites were one side to send scouts to watch him recently but it’s Wolves who have made the first move and they are now preparing a move for the Sweden international.

Leeds United

“Wolves are preparing a summer move for Coventry striker Viktor Gyokeres, talkSPORT understands,” they wrote.

“The Sky Blues value the Sweden international at £25million. Gyokeres, who was formerly on Brighton’s books, has scored 21 goals in the Championship this season.”

Blow

Leeds need a striker and Gyokeres is someone who has already shown that he is ready to step up to a higher level in the Premier League.

Patrick Bamford has really struggled over the last two seasons with his fitness and finding the back of the net, while Rodrigo is ageing and entering the final year of his contract.

Leeds United

Georginio Rutter has been a nothing signing at this point too, so a striker is likely to be a priority. But with our league status nowhere near secure, we can’t start moving for targets yet.

That is allowing the likes of Wolves to move ahead of us in the race for prime targets like Gyokeres, and it’s our own fault for not performing this season and being in this position.

It’s a blow because it’s clear that he would have been a great option, but with so many other teams in the race it could be a case of the early bird catching the worm and that means we’re running out of time to do a deal.

In other Leeds news, one Whites ace could already be questioning his future according to a journalist in his homeland.
