Wolfsburg manager blasts Leeds-linked Mohamed Amoura as sensational saga unfolds ahead of transfer deadline

Leeds United could be set to pounce on a deal for Wolfsburg forward Mohamed Amoura, with tensions rising amid speculation over a move to Elland Road.

Daniel Farke isn’t ready to call it quits in the transfer window, as the 49ers gear up for the final stretch before Monday’s deadline.

The Whites have already signed Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Brighton, but the Argentine is still the only senior addition that Farke has added to his squad this window.

Leeds seem to have missed out on Jorgen Strand Larsen, despite Crystal Palace hitting somewhat of an impasse in securing a £45million deal for the Wolves striker.

However, Paraag Marathe and Co. always had a backup plan, as a deal for Amoura could well and truly be on.

Daniel Bauer throws Mohamed Amoura under the bus amid Leeds interest

Leeds have been credited with interest in Amoura, as the poacher could come to Elland Road with a deal for Strand Larsen seemingly off the table.

The Whites are currently licking their lips as Amoura was left out of Wolfsburg’s matchday squad to face FC Koln in the Bundesliga on Friday, as his side fell to a 1-0 defeat in the Algerian’s absence.

The 25-year-old wasn’t included due to unspecified disciplinary issues.

While speaking live to Sky Sports Germany after the game, Daniel Bauer dramatically called out Amoura for his loyalty to Wolfsburg.

Bauer said: “The idea that ‘we, the team, comes first ‘ doesn’t apply to Mohamed”

This suggests that the versatile attacker could be trying to force his way out of the German side to secure a switch to LS11.

But football works in funny ways, and the Wolfsburg manager could also be trying to protect himself, but the truth always comes out in the end.

Amoura could take Noah Okafor’s place at Leeds; stats prove it

Amoura likes to play off the left side of attack, but has seen most of his success from arriving in a central position in the opposition’s box.

He offers a similar type of playing style to Noah Okafor, who Farke has used as a number nine in recent weeks, following his change to a two-striker formation.

But Amoura is arguably a more lethal finisher and technical player, who could easily replace Okafor in Farke’s starting lineup, given his red-hot form in Germany.

As highlighted by Sofascore, Amoura tops Okafor in the big chances created department, with five to the Leeds’ stars two.

That’s before mentioning that Amoura has a much better rate in front of goal this season, averaging a 55 per cent big chance conversion rate.

This transfer saga is one that will continue to develop, but with the winter market coming to a close very shortly, it would be no surprise to see Wolfsburg sell their allegedly unhappy star to Leeds.
