Leeds United could be set to part ways with Max Wober as a transfer looks set to go through in the summer.

The 27-year-old returned to Elland Road in the summer after a loan spell with Borussia Monchengladbach but failed to make an impression.

This saw the Austria international make just two starts under Daniel Farke in the Championship as promotion to the Premier League was secured.

As a result, a departure could now be on the cards with a bid looking set to be accepted with the transfer looming in LS11.

Wober exit on cards as bid mooted at Leeds

There is likely to be a high number of changes in Yorkshire in the coming months after earning a spot in the top division for the new campaign.

This has already seen the Whites be linked with an approach for Everton striker Beto, who could become one of the first signings of the window.

Outgoing deals are also going to be on the table at Elland Road, with Wober likely to depart after such a quiet season in the Championship.

With just nine appearances in all competitions, it is likely that the Austrian wants a move away, and that desire will only get bigger if a new centre back comes in.

That does appear to be one of Farke's targets for the summer, with Marseille defender Leonardo Balerdi linked with a switch to Elland Road.

It has been reported that the LS11 club will “soon” submit an offer for the Argentine international defender, which could be worth as much as £38million [Foot Mercato, 9 May].

If such an expensive move were to go through for the 26-year-old, it is fair to say that Wober's days in Yorkshire will be numbered.

Balerdi to replace Wober at Leeds United

If a sizable fee is going to be spent on the former Borussia Dortmund man, there is likely to be a number of sales to help fund a deal.

One of those could prove to be Wober, who seemingly has no future under Farke, especially when moving into the Premier League.

This is especially the case as the German continues to favour Joe Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Pascal Struijk in the heart of defence for the Whites.

Balerdi could prove to be a step up for Leeds in a new and improved division, with Wober looking likely to be playing his football elsewhere.
