Willy Gnonto ready to quit Leeds United as transfer development emerges

Premier League side Everton haven’t lost their interest in Leeds United ace Wilfried Gnonto, according to TEAMtalk.

The outlet reported this on 6 August and stated that Gnonto himself is open to the move but won’t try to force his way out of Elland Road.

The Toffees still remain interested in acquiring his services despite having a bid rejected earlier in the window with reports of the move being ‘dead’ wide of the mark, the report adds.

Leeds United should try and retain Wilfried Gnonto

Leeds have already undergone a lot of change throughout the transfer window.

Some of the changes were expected like the sale of Crysencio Summerville [Sean Whetstone, 4 August] or the return of Joe Rodon but others such as Archie Gray’s exit were unlikely to have been anticipated at the end of the 2023/24 season.

And, although Summerville’s exit was more or less expected following his stellar campaign last term, that doesn’t mean the club should sell Gnonto.

The two were inseparable and often worked off of one another playstyles and, although the Whites have lost one of their best players, this could be the season where Gnonto steps up and guides the club to Premier League promotion.

The Toffees have been long-linked with the attacker [Yorkshire Evening Post, 24 July] but the fact that Gnonto isn’t willing to publicly force his way out of the club this time, shows that his heart could be set on staying.

Whether that be because he’s now guaranteed more game time with Summerville out of the picture or the fact he wants to take the club back to where it belongs, it bodes well for the club and their fans.
