Willy Gnonto exit stance shared at Leeds United after Everton offer made
Willy Gnonto has made no noise about leaving Leeds United this summer despite interest from Everton, according to Graham Smyth.
Writing for the Yorkshire Evening Post‘s online edition [6 August], Smyth indicated that Gnonto has been training as normal, despite a £23million offer from Everton being lodged and subsequently rejected.
While his close friend Crysencio Summerville has left Elland Road, it is claimed he still has other close friends within the squad.
This comes just a few days after suggestions that Gnonto wanted a return to Italy (Inter Live, 3 August).
Leeds United need to keep Willy Gnonto happy
At the age of just 20, Gnonto is a player who is only going to get better. He’s confident, he’s composed, and he’s willing to try new things in the final third.
Of course, there are still some questions regarding how far he can go, but the early signs have been good.
It’s for this, among other reasons, why Leeds United need to do everything to keep hold of him. In 36 league appearances last season, he scored eight goals to run alongside two assists. As a winger who is only just starting to figure out his identity, that’s a fairly decent return – albeit not spectacular.
Beyond that, though, Leeds need to think twice about any more big sales. With Summerville and Archie Gray gone, the focus has to be on incoming signings.

Yes, the club has been heavily touted to win the Championship this season, but there’s no guarantee.
Daniel Farke understands what it means to have a good balance in his squad and we’re excited to see what comes next for Gnonto.
In other Leeds United news, the club could be planning a triple signing before the transfer window closes.
