Willy Gnonto deletes response to latest Leeds United exit rumour
Willy Gnonto issued a response on social media to the latest rumours that the forward is pushing for a Leeds United exit before deleting it moments later.
A photo surfaced on Instagram appearing to show the Italy international had liked a post showing him wearing an Everton kit after he has been linked with a move to Goodison Park this summer.
A Leeds fan Instagram account then posted the image and noted in the caption the news that Sky Sports reported on 10 August that the 19-year-old asked to be left out of the Whites’ fixture against Shrewsbury Town on Wednesday evening, with Gnonto responding by saying “Not true” before deleting his comment moments later.

Unclear
There are quite a few things to unpack surrounding the Gnonto saga that has developed on Instagram since Leeds’ 2-1 victory over Shrewsbury on Wednesday night.
There is no way of clearing up whether the forward actually did like the photo of him in an Everton kit because it appeared on someone’s story and those likes can only be seen by the account holder, so it could be photoshopped.
It’s unclear whether the Italian’s response was made to dismiss the fact that he liked the photo or if it was aimed at the Sky Sports claim that he asked not to play in the Carabao Cup game.
Then there is the fact that he has now decided to delete his response after he either realised it was best not be drawn into the argument or someone else has advised him to take it down.

If he has liked the photo then it’s not very professional on his part, but it’s worth noting that he is still a teenager and perhaps some perspective needs to be taken before laying into him when the facts aren’t all there.
One thing is for sure, though, this situation needs sorting out as the club need to know whether or not he’s going to remain at Elland Road this season.
