Willy Gnonto could exit Leeds United with last-gasp transfer bid on the cards
Graham Smyth believes a late bid could be placed for Wilfried Gnonto to leave Leeds United.
The 20-year-old is yet to make a move away from Elland Road despite plenty of transfer speculation linking him away throughout the summer.
With the transfer window ending on 30 August, Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Smyth posted to X on 29 August that he is unsure whether the Italy international will be a Leeds player after deadline day.
He said: “It’s still all quiet on the Willy [Gnonto] front as things stand. Ideally, it’ll stay that way. Keeping him feels really important. Could well see someone trying it on with a late bid.
Leeds United could still lose Wilfried Gnonto
Daniel Farke would be keen to keep hold of his best players after a turbulent summer transfer window in terms of departures.
The likes of Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter were massive blows to the forward line of the Whites after their influence last season.
Now some business has been done to rectify these losses with Largie Ramazani and Manor Solomon coming in late in the window.
Despite these incomings, it would certainly be a blow if Gnonto were to depart, especially this late in the transfer window.
This would leave Leeds in a position where it could prove to be basically impossible to replace what the Italian adds to the squad in the Championship.
Supporters will be hopeful that the winger will see the additions that the club are making and decide to stay on.
There is likely to be late interest from the Premier League and other top leagues but Farke will be wanting to keep hold of him until January at least.
