Willy Gnonto agent wants Leeds United exit after Georginio Rutter, Crysencio Summerville moves
Willy Gnonto’s agent remains keen to land the Leeds United winger a move before the transfer deadline, TEAMtalk reports.
According to the outlet’s website on 20 August the Italian international’s representative would like to secure his exit from Elland Road after Georginio Rutter’s £40million switch to Brighton and Crysencio Summerville’s £25million plus add-ons West Ham deal.
Everton tried to sign the 20-year-old again this summer but abandoned the move after the Whites rejected a £23m bid [The Athletic, 6 August].
The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth admitted he would be “shocked” if another club didn’t make an attempt before the deadline [talkSPORT, 10 August, 12:10].
Everton failed with bid for Leeds United star already
Of the big names Gnonto would arguably have been the attacking talent that the club would have been most willing to part with on paper, but he is once again the least likely to leave.
Summerville and Rutter both exploded out of relative obscurity compared to the Italian last term to become the leading lights going forward for Daniel Farke.
But with both, and Archie Gray, all departing for big money this summer thanks to yet more release clauses in their contracts the club were powerless to stop them going.
They certainly should have put contingency plans in place, which doesn’t look to have been the case now they are scrambling between the likes of Jonathan Rowe from Norwich, Jack Clarke at Sunderland, and Million Manhoef at Stoke.

Gnonto hasn’t got an exit clause so is one of the few Leeds have the ability to cling on to, so unless an offer they can’t refuse gets put on the table it looks likely that they will insist on keeping him.
Fans are already unhappy with the way stars have been picked off so it would be a major surprise if the 49ers sanctioned another one leaving at this stage unless they suddenly bring in an avalanche of new replacements first.
In other Leeds United news, Patrick Bamford is set to stay at Elland Road past the end of the transfer window.
