Wilfried Gnonto has now made it clear to Leeds United that he wants to quit the club this summer, according to The Boot Room.

Graeme Bailey reported via the online outlet on 16 July that despite talks being sprung about the potential of a new contract, these stalled due to the Whites' failure to gain promotion.

The report adds that Everton are leading the way in the chase of the 20-year-old Leeds regular.

However, Cesc Fabregas now wants to bring the striker to the Serie A and play for Como.

Roma and Newcastle United, among others, are also said to hold an interest in the striker this summer, with a Premier League move preferred.

Leeds United should sell Wilfried Gnonto this summer

After their failure to gain promotion last season, change was clearly needed at Elland Road this summer.

And change is what has occurred. Leeds have seen Archie Gray depart for £40million to Tottenham whilst Joe Rodon has returned and will no doubt be slotted straight into Daniel Farke's starting 11.

Despite Gray's departure coming as something of a shock to fans, it was well documented that the West Yorkshire outfit needed to make a big sale in order to abide by the EFL's PSR guidelines.

Gnonto, on the other hand, was linked with a move away last summer with talk seeming to die down when Leeds looked to be getting promoted. Since those hopes failed, rumours have once again started back up.

It feels as if when the going gets tough, Gnonto wants out. At this point, the Whites should just let him leave - transfer fee dependent.

The West Yorkshire club would then be able to reinvest the money gained across the board so, should an acceptable bid come through, there's no reason why United should say no this time around.
