Wilfried Gnonto: Leeds United may have made their mind up amid Freiburg goings on
Wilfried Gnonto has been tipped for a Leeds United exit this summer, though the noise around a move to Freiburg has gone quiet.
The Italian had limited game time at Elland Road this season just gone, and became surplus to Daniel Farke's requirements.
He then posted a telling message on social media after the final home game of the season after the win over Brighton.
However, nothing has been confirmed that the Whites want to sell Gnonto, only that they are open to him leaving.
Freiburg have been credited with interest in the winger, as the Bundesliga club could look to strike a loan-to-buy agreement, or may mush for a permanent move.
However, speculation linking Gnonto to Freiburg has died down in recent weeks, which leaves Leeds fans wondering if he will leave or not.
Leeds may have still told Wilfried Gnonto to find new club
Though Gnonto may not end up in Germany with Freiburg, he still looks destined to leave.
Paraag Marathe has admitted that the Whites will need to operate strategically in the summer market, and that means they'll have to raise funds somehow.
Gnonto has been a benchwarmer for almost the whole season, but has made little impact when being introduced in games.
He still holds a high market value due to his potential and age, one which Leeds will most likely look to cash in on.
It would be no surprise if Farke and the club have told the 22-year-old to find new employers this summer, even if a move to Freiburg doesn't materialise.
Leeds must chase permanent Gnonto exit
It would be understandable to see sides try to sign Gnonto on loan or even a loan-to-buy.
However, the Whites need immediate cash, and given they only signed him for around £5million, the 49ers are due a profitable sale.
It will help for a positive on the books at Elland Road too, with this summer seeing a switch to the new SCR system.
Leeds could easily get at least £10m for Gnonto, though his possible exit will most likely remain controversial among fans.
