Wilfried Gnonto could leave Leeds United on loan late in window, Everton and Aston Villa want to sign him

Leeds are still considering selling Wilfried Gnonto this summer, but they could let him leave on loan towards the end of the window, reports Gianluca Di Marzio.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (10 August), the Sky Italia journalist reports that the Whites are still not open to a sale despite the player refusing to play for the club as he wants to leave.

However they could be open to a loan exit later in the window, with Aston Villa and Everton among the most interested parties.

“For Gnonto at the moment Leeds United is not open to the sale,” he wrote.

“The possibility of a loan remains standing in the last days of the market (Aston Villa and Everton interested).”

Shocker

There is only one loan spot remaining that Leeds can use to let players leave this summer, and if we’ve saved it for Gnonto we’re mental.

He is quite clearly our best attacking player at the club and with no release clause in his contract, his future is firmly in our hands as to how we handle it.

Selling him is something the club don’t want to do, but we can easily demand a bigger fee and if someone pays it then we have plenty of cash to find a replacement.

A loan feels like an easy way out for the player and for clubs who want him, while leaving us short of quality and cash to find a replacement in a summer where our transfers have to be spot on to get promotion back to the Premier League.

This is a bit of a nightmare right now for our fans and for Daniel Farke, so unless we use the coming weeks to replace him before letting him go then this doesn’t look like it’s going to end well.
