Wilfried Gnonto agent speaks out as Leeds United block transfer to Everton

Wilfried Gnonto’s agent has revealed that Leeds United are blocking a move to the Premier League for his client, who doesn’t want to return to Serie A.

The Italy international has handed in a written transfer request to force through a move to Everton this summer, with the Toffees having at least three bids rejected for the 19-year-old winger.

But according to his agent Claudio Vigorelli, speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb (22 August), the Whites are blocking requests from the Premier League

“The situation is complicated. Leeds are blocking the requests we have in the Premier League,” he said.

“The transfer hypothesis would be high if Leeds opened up to the transfer, but not in Serie A.”

Good

Leeds have seemingly made their decision about Gnonto’s future and he’ll be staying at Elland Road beyond the deadline next week.

But whether that’s a good thing or not remains to be seen, considering he’s already gone to all sorts of lengths not to play for us anymore and has made it abundantly clear that he doesn’t want to be here.

So with that being known, the question has to be asked if whether making an example of him and sticking to the word they’ve put out publicly is better for Leeds than just letting him go and using the money to reinvest in the squad to bolster Daniel Farke’s options.

The fan base is largely split on whether to let him rot or to let him go and give him what he wants ultimately, but as it stands he’s staying put and him and his agent will just have to deal with it.
