What Robbie Keane said about Troy Parrott will surely excite Leeds fans as transfer eyed
Leeds United are in the market for a new striker, and Troy Parrott is someone who has emerged on their radar ahead of January.
The Whites have struggled to put the ball in the back of the net since winning promotion to the Premier League, with only Wolves scoring fewer than their tally of 10 goals.
Leeds signed free-agent Dominic Calvert-Lewin in an attempt to fix their troubles, although the Englishman is part of the problem after finding the net just once in 10 appearances.
Worryingly, Daniel Farke’s top scorers in the top flight are Joe Rodon, Lukas Nmecha and Noah Okafor – all with two goals each – making the need to sign a clinical finisher even more pressing.
That is why Leeds have been linked to AZ Alkmaar Troy Parrott after his heroics on international duty, and the 23-year-old could answer all of their prayers.

What Robbie Keane has said about Leeds linked Troy Parrott
Parrott is in red-hot form for the Republic of Ireland, following up a brace against Portugal with an impressive hat-trick away to Hungary, single-handedly dragging his side to a 3-2 victory.
The former Tottenham youngster scored a 98th-minute winner against Hungary to book his side a place in the play-offs with World Cup qualification on the line.
Meanwhile, Parrott has also been on fire for AZ Alkmaar with 13 goals in 14 appearances so far in 2025/26, making him one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers.
Leeds were linked with Parrott in May when he was valued at £25million, but his recent heroics suggest that fee could have skyrocketed.
When speaking about the clinical finisher in January 2025, former Leeds striker Robbie Keane hailed his footballing brain and praised how he uses his attributes.
“Me personally, I think he should be having more game time with the national team over the last year or two years, if I’m being honest,” Keane said via the RTE.
“I think he has something different. He’s clever, he’s difficult to play against because he can go in behind and he can come short. In ways, he’s very similar to me. The two of us weren’t the quickest but we’re sharp over 10, 15 yards. And then you see how his brain works on the football pitch.”

Parrott could fire Leeds to survival
Farke has been placed under pressure at Leeds following just one win in their previous six matches, and the German needs a strong January window.

The addition of Parrott should be at the very top of his list, as his incredible instincts inside the box and impeccable finishing ability make him the perfect striker.
Troy Parrott’s attacking stats
0.49 non-penalty goals
2.94 shots
2.79 shot-creating actions
6.17 touches attacking pen
5.88 progressive passes received
As highlighted by FBref, Parrott comes alive in the box with 6.17 touches per 90, while letting off almost three attempts on goal per game.
In a Leeds side that has struggled to create chances, the talented Irishman could create something from nothing and be their saviour in the relegation battle.
