‘What is happening?’, ‘Madness’ – Some rival fans react as Leeds set to seal signing this week

Leeds United are set to seal the signing of young Arsenal striker, Sam Greenwood this week, and some Gunners fans aren’t happy.

The England Under-18 striker has been at the north London club for two years since arriving from Sunderland.

He turned heads after scoring 12 goals in 14 appearances for the England Under-17s and signed his first pro contract with Arsenal last September.

Now it looks like he’s on the move to hook up with the Leeds Under-23s, where he’ll join fellow new signings Joe Gelhardt and Cody Drameh.

One Arsenal fan said that with Greenwood going and Folarin Balogun also potentially on the move, “Do we need to start asking serious questions about the way the academy is being run?”

Another compared Greenwood to Champions League winner Serge Gnabry.

He left Arsenal for just £4.5m four years ago at the age of 21. Last night he starred for Bayern Munich as they beat PSG 1-0 in the Champions League final.

The Arsenal fans seem to rate Greenwood highly and it sounds like he would be a steal for Leeds at the price.

One fan said Arsenal had to get seven figures for Greenwood or he would “riot”. Phil Hay claims it will get done for a six-figure sum.

That’s great for Leeds – and not so great for these disgruntled Arsenal fans…
