Victor Orta jets out to Norway in Leeds United talks to sign Kristoffer Klaesson

Leeds United are on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Valerenga goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson, according to Nettavisen.

The Norwegian newspaper claims Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta jetted out to Oslo to hold talks with the 20-year-old and his agent earlier this week.

It is understood that a meeting was held in a restaurant in the Norwegian capital and the parties “have almost agreed on personal terms”.

Deal all but done?

Well, that was quick.

Kiko Casilla only left Leeds to join Elche on loan on Monday and it seems the Whites have already found a replacement for the Spaniard.

While Klaesson isn’t as experienced as Casilla, he’s still someone who’s very highly rated in Norway.

The 20-year-old is yet to win a senior cap for Norway but has been called up to their national team recently.

He also has 54 appearances to his name in the Norwegian top-flight with Valerenga, who are based in Oslo.

According to Nettavisen, Valerenga are only expecting Leeds to pay around £1.6million for Klaesson, which is an absolute bargain.

We’re not totally behind the idea of having a young goalkeeper serve as the back-up for our young number one Illan Meslier. But at least that young goalkeeper seems like someone with a big future ahead of him.

Plus, who knows? Leeds could be signing Klaesson with the view to loaning him out and might even sign another goalkeeper to be Marcelo Bielsa’s number two for next season.

Let’s wait and see but we feel as though Klaesson is seen as a new number two or someone who can challenge Meslier for his spot in the starting line-up.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are keen on this international forward and a loan-to-buy deal is on the cards.
