Victor Orta delivers two-word message on Rodrigo-Leeds deal after being spotted in Spain
Victor Orta has revealed he is “very happy” that Leeds United have been able to reach an agreement to sign Valencia striker Rodrigo.
Valencia confirmed via their official Twitter account on Tuesday night that pending a medical and formalities, Rodrigo, 29, will become a Leeds player soon after an agreement in principle was reached.
Leeds’ director of football Orta is reported to have been key to the deal to sign the Spain international and now, the Elland Road transfer chief has been spotted walking in the streets in Spain.
When asked about the imminent Rodrigo transfer in a video on Onda Deportivo’s Twitter account, Orta repeated that he is “very happy” to have struck an agreement with Valencia.
Rodrigo will reportedly have his medical in Valencia today (Wednesday) at Clinica Eresa ahead of finalising his deal with Leeds United.
The Brazil-born forward did suffer an injury at the end of last season but that does not mean he’ll fail the medical to join Leeds.
It would be peak Leeds for that to happen but we’re confident that this transfer is practically done and will be announced by the Yorkshire club soon.
According to Phil Hay, Leeds have agreed to pay around £30million for Rodrigo, which will smash their current transfer record, which was the £18million purchase of Rio Ferdinand.
Rodrigo’s arrival is going to bring a big weight of expectation with it.
Marcelo Bielsa has rarely sanctioned big deals in his time as Leeds manager but the Argentine has clearly had no doubts about Rodrigo in this case.
He must feel the forward fits his profile perfectly and we cannot wait to see what the Leeds boss can get out of the Spain international in the Premier League.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign this Arsenal midfielder on loan.
