Valuation of defender on Leeds transfer radar plunges due to coronavirus – report

Leeds United may be able to sign Freiburg defender Robin Koch for a cut-price fee with his transfer value plummeting due to coronavirus, according to the Daily Star.

The worldwide pandemic has had a major impact on the economy and it seems that football is not immune to that with agents reportedly believing Koch’s value has dropped since a £17.5million bid for him was tabled by RB Leipzig in January.

Freiburg rejected that offer as they wanted around £19million for the 23-year-old Germany international, who Victor Orta revealed had been on Leeds’ radar as someone they could target if they win promotion to the Premier League [Yorkshire Evening Post].

Leeds are not the only team interested in Koch with the Daily Star reporting that West Ham, Norwich and Tottenham also have their sights on the centre-back.

However a decrease in his value could be good news for Leeds if they manage to win promotion and are able to convince the German to head to Elland Road ahead of next season.

Koch has had a brilliant season for Freiburg.

The defender has made 27 appearances across all competitions and scored two goals, with one coming in the last Bundesliga match he played in before coronavirus brought football in Germany to a halt.
