Valencia revive late bid to sign Leeds United winger Helder Costa
Valencia have revived their interest in signing Helder Costa from Leeds United ahead of the 11pm transfer deadline, according to Hector Gomez.
Writing via his personal Twitter account, the TribuaDeportiva journalist reported that Valencia have “reactivated” their bid to sign the 27-year-old winger from Leeds.
Earlier on deadline day, Gomez reported Valencia manager José Bordalás did not want Costa despite the player being keen on a move to the billionaire-owned [Forbes] Spanish club.
Costa needs to go
For the sake of everyone involved, Costa should leave Leeds United Football Club before the transfer deadline passes at 11pm tonight.
However, does he really want to join a club where the manager is having reservations about signing him?
Valencia have been linked with Costa for a fair bit of the summer transfer window so Bordalas should have at least some kind of interest in the Portuguese winger.
But the back and forth on deadline day and the hesitation could be enough to put Costa off.
At least if he stays at Leeds, he knows there’s a manager here who has faith in his players and will try to keep him on top of his game.
It’s just unlikely that Costa will get much game-time at all with Daniel James now at Elland Road after his deadline day move from Manchester United.
Costa’s not an awful player but we have a number of better wingers than him now and Bielsa is only going to play two in each game.
Costa cost Leeds a lot of money last year when his loan deal from Wolves was made permanent for £16million.
We shouldn’t really be happy with taking too much of a hit on that either but we definitely did over-pay.
In other Leeds United news, a super agent could oversee this player leaving Elland Road.
