Manchester United remain interested in signing Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray but any deal will be very difficult to complete, according to Academy Scoop.

The news outlet with 30k Twitter followers and followed by reliable journalists like David Ornstein, Laurie Whitwell and Jamie Jackson, does not see the Manchester outfit signing the 18-year-old from their historic rivals.

Leeds failed to secure promotion to the Premier League after losing 1-0 to Southampton at Wembley on 26 May.

Via Twitter, Academy Scoop wrote: "Interested, but a deal would be incredibly difficult."

Archie Gray has better options if he leaves Leeds United

Gray's deep-rooted connection to Leeds United makes the prospect of him joining Manchester United highly unlikely.

As a lifelong Leeds fan, the teenager has progressed through the club's academy system, making his first-team debut and establishing himself as a key player in the squad.

This emotional attachment to the club, combined with the historical rivalry between Leeds and Manchester United, would likely make a move to Old Trafford a difficult decision for the Englishman.

Moreover, Gray's talent and potential are well recognised in the football community.

He has been a regular in the Leeds first team and has also represented England at the under-21 level.

If Gray were to consider leaving Leeds, there would likely be other Premier League clubs interested in signing him with Liverpool likely to take a punt on him.

Other clubs would also offer him a fresh start without the emotional and historical baggage associated with a move to Manchester United.
