‘Unreal’, ‘Secures our safety in the PL’ – Many Leeds react to striker news from Sky Sports man

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Valencia striker Rodrigo and plenty of fans are absolutely thrilled at the prospect.

Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio broke the news and the Spain international offers the sort of attacking versatility that Leeds want.

He can play as a striker or as a winger, and cash-strapped Valencia have earmarked him for an exit after failing to qualify for Europe and being hit hard financially by the Coronavirus outbreak.

Spanish outlet Golsmedia said that Valencia must sell and would take the £27m they paid form him in 2015 to get him off their books.

It’s not just Leeds fans who are excited by the development, though.

BBC journalist Guillem Balague seemed very excited himself, saying, “What a proposition (Valencia’s) Rodrigo/Leeds as reported! The player would be more than happy to play for Bielsa and for a club like #LUFC. Fast, goalscorer, hard worker without the ball, Spanish international. Perfect for Bielsa if original interest is pursued.”

One Leeds fan said that he’d “never say a bad word about Kinnear or Orta ever again” if Rodrigo signed.

Another said signing Rodrigo “Secures our safety in the Prem”, while another just said the prospect of signing him was “unreal”.

It definitely shows Leeds are looking at a very different calibre of player from their time in the EFL.
