When it comes to journalists talking about Leeds United transfers, there are some sources who are more reliable than others.

Phil Hay is at the top. However, there are some journalists who don't specialise in Leeds but have a very good track record and Tancredi Palmeri is one of those.

He dropped a sizeable bomb on Tuesday when he said that Leeds are in talks with Bruno Carvalho, Florentino's agent over a deal for the 20-year-old midfielder.

Florentino is a Portugal Under-21 international who was seemingly destined for big things at Benfica before his career stuttered a bit this season.

He has a crazy £110m release clause in his contract but is likely to go for closer to £18m-£27m according to Palmeri.

That's in Leeds' ballpark and although some fans were surprised at being linked with another defensive midfielder – Kalvin Phillips has that sewn up at Leeds – Florentino has actually played the majority of his games this season as a right-sided central midfielder.

Florentino has been linked with both Manchester clubs and is the sort of player that Leeds fans could only have dreamed of being linked with before promotion.

That's why so many of them are excited at the prospect of this young superstar-in-waiting heading to Elland Road...
