'Unbelievable scenes' – These Leeds fans absolutely loving surprise update on transfer

Leeds United fans were absolutely buzzing on Tuesday.

Not only did Leeds sign a quality striker as a replacement for Eddie Nketiah, it turned out they saw off a late hijack attempt by bitter rivals Manchester United.

Athletic journalist David Ornstein made the claim which was later confirmed by Phil Hay.

Ornstein claimed Man United came in with a "disorganised" late bid but it wasn't enough to convince Augustin to change his mind.

By contrast, Ornstein said that the Leeds bid was "impressive" and Marcelo Bielsa was credited with being absolutely key to landing the deal.

We think Augustin could be an incredible signing. He's a player with real pedigree, having played for PSG, Red Bull Leipzig and Monaco... and now Leeds.

But beating Man United to his signature... After losing out on Daniel James last January, and the winger going on to sign for United in the summer, it's great to get revenge.

But it's even better to think that Leeds are finally able to look down on United.

And it's hopefully a sign of things to come that players will prefer to sign for Leeds than for United from now on.
