Tyler Adams to undergo Chelsea medical today as Leeds United £20m release clause triggered
Tyler Adams will undergo a medical with Chelsea today after they triggered his £20m release clause at Leeds United, according to Mike McGrath.
Writing on his personal Twitter account (10 August), The Telegraph journalist reports that he will undergo a medical on Thursday ahead of completing his move to Stamford Bridge.
There had been suggestions that Adams could leave on a loan-to-buy deal rather than permanently, but that hasn’t materialised and he will now leave Elland Road after just one season at the club.
“USA midfielder Tyler Adams medical at Chelsea today ahead of move from Leeds United,” he wrote.
Shame
It’s a real shame that Adams will be leaving the club because his experience and quality in the Championship would have been a real cheat code for us.
However it’s not something that can be particularly shocking to any fan, th his exit largely expected all summer as soon as it emerged that he had a release clause.

Whoever set the fee at that price is crazy considering it’s less than we paid for him a year ago, and now he will go and shine in west London in the Premier League while we scramble around for replacements.
His injury means that we wouldn’t have been able to call on him until after the international break anyway, but he would surely have made such a huge difference just as he did last year when he was fit.
Most fans believe we would have stayed up if he was fit, and nobody blames him for leaving this summer too. It’s a shame, but he leaves with best wishes and hopefully we’ll see him again next season at Elland Road for a Premier League game.
