Tyler Adams could make Chelsea debut v Liverpool after Leeds United release clause triggered

Tyler Adams could make his Chelsea debut on Sunday against Liverpool after his Leeds relegation release clause was triggered, report the Evening Standard.

Writing on their official website (10 August), journalist Nizaar Kinsella reports that a medical is due for today (10 August) and the player could be available to play in the Premier League opener this weekend.

That will come as a huge shock to many Whites fans, with Daniel Farke previously stating that he was recovering from a hamstring injury and would be unavailable until after the September international break.

“Chelsea have activated Tyler Adams’ £20million release clause ahead of signing the midfielder from Leeds,” they wrote.

“The 24-year-old is expected to undergo his medical at Stamford Bridge on Thursday and could be available to face Liverpool on Sunday.”

What?

Well this is just a huge kick in the teeth for Leeds fans and the club if he is indeed fit to play and has just been faking an injury the whole time.

Adams joined last year and immediately became a fan favourite, showing the leadership and fight that many fans demand and that was bereft of a lot of other members of the squad.

His injury in March was a huge blow and many believe that it was a big reason as to why we were relegated in the end, but his return was highly anticipated and many feel he could have been the difference to get back to the Premier League too.

Obviously his injury was serious but it went from a couple of months out to almost six now, and if he then walks into the Chelsea squad this weekend serious questions will need to be asked about his commitment.

If he wants to leave then let him, there’s no issue with that. But refusing to play when fit is a different kettle of fish. Lets hope it’s just some bad information or an error on the journalist’s part.
