Troy Parrott’s stance on Leeds United move shared amid £20m developments

Troy Parrott has again emerged as a target for Leeds United.

Leeds United are well-placed to achieve survival this season, regardless of the business they do in January, though Daniel Farke will no doubt be keen to add some new faces to his squad.

As of now, Facundo Buonanotte remains the only arrival at Elland Road, having joined on loan from Brighton for the remainder of the season after a failed move to Chelsea.

Parrott was heavily linked with Leeds in the summer window, and it seems as though the Whites are ready to return to the table with a new offer in the final weeks of January.

Troy Parrott to Leeds is back on the cards

Had Parrott been linked with Leeds prior to his move to Holland, the Whites would have been accused of lacking ambition, and his record would have backed that up.

Throughout spells at Millwall, Ipswich, MK Dons and then Preston, Parrott had managed just 14 goals in 113 appearances.

However, since then, the Ireland international has scored a remarkable 56 goals in 104 appearances in Holland, having spent time on loan at Excelsior and then AZ.

Now, Leeds are back on the table for him, with a report from Football Fan Cast stating that the Whites have sounded him out ahead of a potential January swoop.

AZ signed Parrott for just £6.7million back in 2024, and could be in line to sell him for a fee in the region of £20million, though he is said to be happy where he is for now, with an eye on playing in the Premier League in the future.

The 23-year-old failed to score in AZ’s latest defeat against PEC Zwolle, but bagged a hat-trick as they knocked Ajax out of the KNVB Cup with a 6-0 win.

Parrott transfer would seal Joel Piroe’s fate amid latest exit talks

Joel Piroe has had a distinct lack of gametime this season in the Premier League, and that is with Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to contend with.

The arrival of Parrott would push him even further down the pecking order and potentially even see him drop out of the matchday squad.

Piroe was linked with Celtic, though those rumours were dismissed, with several Championship clubs said to be keeping an eye on his situation at Elland Road.

As things stand, Leeds are only interested in Parrott, but if that interest turns into action, then Piroe may well be out the door.
