Trabzonspor are reportedly expecting offers for Leeds United target and club captain Ugurcan Cakir in the coming weeks.

According to Turkish media outlet Fanatik, Fulham have also entered the race and are closing in on securing his services.

The club are expecting a fee in the region of £17million if they are to part ways with the 25-year-old in the summer.

In an earlier report, the same outlet mentioned that the Whites had already opened talks with Cakir's agent over a potential move once the transfer window opens.

Is he needed?

Illan Meslier has established himself as the undisputed first choice goalkeeper for Leeds over the past couple of years.

He may be prone to the occasional error, but by and large, he wins the side more points than what he costs them.

There's a reason why clubs around Europe are looking at him as one of the best keepers of the next generation.

That said, he does not appear in any real rush to leave Elland Road this summer.

Cakir will surely want game time and he's unlikely to get it at Leeds unless Meslier is injured or rested in cup games.

If the Turkish keeper is open to challenging him for a first-team role, then it makes sense to sign him, but Newcastle and Fulham will make him their first choice and we think he would rather join them than Leeds.
