Tottenham Hotspur open to sell Joe Rodon to Leeds United in £20m permanent deal

Leeds United have been told how much it will cost them to sign Joe Rodon permanently from Tottenham in the summer, according to TEAMtalk.

The Wales international joined on a season-long loan deal in the summer and has established himself as a key member of Daniel Farke’s side, with the Whites now interested in making the move permanent.

While there is no buy-option in the deal, a new report (14 November) claims that Spurs are open to letting the 26-year-old leave permanently for around £20m.

“TEAMtalk understands that Tottenham would be open to the possibility of his sale at this time and would be likely to seek a fee of around £20m for his services,” they wrote.

Bargain

Financially Leeds are in a fantastic place at the moment, and the position we’re in right now in the Championship means we’re in a great place in our promotion charge.

If we can continue our excellent form and get back to the Premier League for next season, then splashing £20m on bringing in Rodon permanently would be an absolute no-brainer.

Farke has made him the first-choice option at the back because of his skills on the ball and how imposing he is defensively, as well as his physical attributes.

We will need to make sure the squad is stronger next season regardless, and a tough summer window will be waiting. Doing a deal in January would be great, but it could also be senseless because if we don’t get promotion we could leave ourselves in a hole.

It’s one to keep an eye on in coming weeks and months, but if that is the fee then Leeds should be all over it for next season.
