Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence loan move to Leeds United ‘pretty much done’ – talkSPORT

Leeds United’s loan move for Tottenham defender Djed Spence is “pretty much done”, according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook.

Writing on his personal Twitter account (29 August), the reporter claimed that it could be a busy week of departures in north London, starting with Spence’s move to Elland Road.

Phil Hay and Fabrizio Romano reported that a £1m loan fee agreement had been found on Tuesday but the deal was not yet at the medical stage at the time of writing.

“Could be a busy week of departures from Tottenham Hotspur,” he wrote.

“Djed Spece to Leeds United on loan pretty much done.”

Massive

Spence may be young and not a household name, but he is a fantastic right-back who is more than proven to be successful at this level.

He shone with Nottingham Forest two seasons ago to help them earn promotion to the top flight but then made a bad career move by opting for Tottenham, despite the fact Antonio Conte made it clear he didn’t want the signing to happen.

After spending the second half of last season on loan in Ligue 1 he showed his promise again but after failing to impress Ange Postecoglou he now goes in search of more regular football again at Elland Road.

It does raise the question about the future of Cody Drameh at full-back as he is in the final year of his deal at the club and wants regular football.

This could open up a chance for him to move on before the deadline on Friday, but Leeds have got their man and are stronger for it alongside new arrivals Ethan Ampadu, Sam Byram, Joe Rodon and Joel Piroe.
