Tottenham ace Joe Rodon shares Leeds United transfer admission ahead of play-off final
Joe Rodon has hinted he would be open to staying on at Leeds United should they defeat Southampton and return to the Premier League.
The Wales international has starred during his season-loan loan at Elland Road from Tottenham, where he is under contract for another year.
Leeds fans would love Rodon to remain at the club regardless of what happens against Southampton at Wembley on Sunday (26 May).
And the centre-back has now made an admission on his future, which he wants resolved sooner rather than later.
“It would be nice to have stability and know where I am next season,” he told the Daily Mail [26 May].
“I’ve always strived to get to the elite level and hopefully I can get back there with Leeds, but you never know what can happen in football.
“I don’t want to look too far into the future, although I do love it here and Leeds feels like a second home to me now.
“I’m just concentrating on giving my best and getting this club back to where it belongs. That has been my motivation all year and now we’re one game from achieving our dream.”
Joe Rodon would be superb first Leeds United signing
Leeds pulled off a major coup by bringing Rodon to Elland Road last summer and he has more than showed his Premier League quality.
It goes without saying that Leeds have little chance of retaining Rodon if they are not promoted to the top flight.
Even then, Tottenham will not exactly let him leave for cheap, although his contract situation may force their hand somewhat.
Rodon now knows all about Leeds and he has clearly loved his season at Elland Road, which can only work in the Whites’ favour.
Landing a centre-back of Rodon’s quality has to be a priority for the Whites if they do go up, even if it means spending £10million-plus.

Exactly what market Leeds are shopping in will become a lot clearer come 5pm – or later if it goes to extra-time – on Sunday (26 May).
Let’s just hope it is players of Rodon’s quality the club are targeting, rather than looking to tighten the purse strings.
