Top clubs join Manchester City in race for Leeds United starlet Harry Gray

Several top clubs want to compete with Manchester City to sign Leeds starlet Harry Gray after a deal was agreed to sell Finlay Gorman, according to Fichajes.net.

The Whites agreed a deal that could be worth up to £5m for 15-year-old sensation Gorman to join the current English champions, after failing to convince him to stay at Elland Road.

Now City want to sign fellow 15-year-old Gray, younger brother of first-team sensation Archie, but face competition from “several top clubs” after his performances in the academy caught the eye.

“An emerging name on the youth football scene, Harry Gray appears to have caught the attention of Manchester City scouts as they look to secure his future with the team,” they wrote.

“His outstanding performance at Leeds United has sparked interest from several top clubs, and City appear willing to enter the fray for this emerging talent.”

Yikes

Losing Finlay Gorman was a huge blow to the future of Leeds United Football Club, because his talent was well known and he was clearly seen as having a chance of breaking through.

The way that the club has been able to develop the likes of Gray, Wilfried Gnonto, Illan Meslier, Crysencio Summerville and the likes shows that there is a pathway from Thorp Arch, but it’s hard to ignore the bright lights and money that clubs like Man City can throw at players.

Harry Gray has a deeper tie to the club because of the lineage of his grandfather and father at Leeds, and much like his brother there is clearly a place for him in the future of the club.

The hope would be that we will be able to keep other teams away from him and convince him that his development is best served here just like his brother.

But with several top clubs showing an interest and looking to move for him, we’re powerless for now until he pens a professional contract and it will be terrible to lose him.
