Toni Fernandez makes late call on next club as Barcelona talent tours Leeds United

Toni Fernandez has made his decision on a late exit from Barcelona after interest from Leeds United.

The Whites have had a busy window and are set to add to their squad on deadline day.

Melvin Bard looks set to sign from OGC Nice as Daniel Farke adds to his squad once more.

There was clearly a desire to potentially bring in further depth before the door slams shut on new transfers at 11pm.

Fernandez has remained a target for Leeds as the 18-year-old sets his sight on a Camp Nou exit.

There has been a clear directive in Yorkshire this summer to add quality, experience and a better age profile to the side.

That has worked a treat so far with the likes of James Trafford and Tarik Muharemovic making a difference.

The latter point looked to be focused on as Fernandez was seen as a target.

The young Barca forward has faced plenty of interest throughout the window as Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported on Tuesday that Leeds made contact to sign the Spaniard this summer.

Aston Villa were also keen on the teenager as he even went on "tours" at some interested parties.

The Whites' pursuit hasn't paid off in the end as Fernandez now looks set to sign for Serie A outfit Venezia.

The Italians have agreed a fee in the region of £3.4million to seal his signature, while Barcelona will maintain 50 per cent of his rights and have a buy-back option.

Will Leeds regret missing out on Fernandez?

There would certainly have been excitement if the attacker had swapped Camp Nou for Elland Road.

That will now vanish as he instead looks set to join Venezia instead.

Many Leeds fans will question what Fernandez could have added to Farke's squad, possibly starting in the academy.

He is obviously a product of the famous La Masia academy, so is famed for his football IQ.

The Spaniard would also bring a versatility to feature anywhere across the front line.

His low centre of gravity and strength on the ball has also seen him stand out at times.

Fernandez would have been one for the future in LS11 and could certainly make Leeds regret missing out on his signature this summer.
