Tom Cairney: Leeds United could lose ‘majestic’ Crysencio Summerville in January after stunner v Swansea

Tom Cairney believes Leeds United could lose Crysencio Summerville in January after his performance against Swansea City on Wednesday (29 November).

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Special on Wednesday (10:09pm), the Fulham midfielder said the 22-year-old was “majestic” as he helped the Whites to a 3-1 victory over the Swans.

He added that the Dutch winger has been the “player of the season” alongside Blackburn Rovers midfielder Sammie Szmodics, who is the top scorer in the Championship this campaign.

“Summerville was majestic,” said Cairney. “I think he’s been the player of the season, maybe him and Szmodics. I tell you what, they might struggle to hold onto him in January, but we’ll see.”

Have to keep him

There is no doubt that Summerville has been absolutely sensational for Leeds in the opening few months of this season.

The winger just adds something different to the Whites’ attack and he is what really makes them tick when trying to break down an opposition defence.

He has notched six goals and seven assists in 15 games so far this season after deciding to remain at Elland Road in the summer transfer window.

There will surely be plenty of interest in signing him again in January, but it’s extremely important that the club manage to keep hold of him.

Daniel Farke will know he is crucial if his side are to challenge for promotion back to the Premier League, so he will be keen for them to keep hold of him until at least the end of the season.

In other Leeds United news, a Whites player is surely set for a January exit after the latest Farke snub.
