Timothy Weah ‘set for transfer’ as Leeds United make approach

Leeds United and Everton are potentially locked in a tussle to secure the services of Juventus attacker Timothy Weah.

The 25-year-old played a majority of the Old Lady’s league games last season, but his output was far from impressive.

Weah managed to score only five goals in Serie A and provided two assists, playing a total of 1638 minutes.

Everton and Marseille keen on signing Weah as well

The Whites are not the only team interested in signing the United States international this summer.

According to Tutto Juve journalist Mirko Di Natale, Everton and Marseille are also interested in the former PSG wide man.

Leeds have made their interest in Weah known as they’ve launched an enquiry to gauge his availability.

Di Natale wrote on X: “My news is that Leeds have inquired about Timothy Weah. Everton are also still very interested in the player, as is Marseille in Ligue 1.”

Leeds United must not sign Weah

While Weah is a decent player, his skill set as a versatile winger does not fully address Leeds United’s pressing need for a top-quality striker to avoid Premier League relegation in 2025-26.

The Whites, under Daniel Farke, require a prolific centre-forward to replace the goal-scoring output lost with Patrick Bamford’s inconsistency and injuries.

Weah’s pace and creativity suit wide roles, but his modest goal tally last season suggests he lacks the clinical finishing needed to lead the line.

With relegation rivals likely to be strengthening, Leeds must prioritise a proven striker who offers higher goal-scoring reliability.

Pursuing Weah risks misaligning resources, so Leeds should look elsewhere to secure survival.

While the Elland Road outfit needs a wide goal scorer, the Juventus attacker would be a major risk and not guarantee output.

They need to sign someone capable of over 10 G+A in the league alone and one who comes with a proven fitness record.
