This is how Leeds United could sign Jorgen Stand Larsen despite PSR concerns

Leeds United are eyeing a remarkable deal for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen in the January transfer window.

It was revealed earlier this week that Leeds have enquired about the availability of Strand Larsen, but they have yet to make an official bid.

Daniel Farke’s side are expected to face strong competition in the race for the Norway international, with the likes of Nottingham Forest and West Ham United previously linked.

The Whites could also struggle to contend with the finances of the deal, given their PSR worries, but there may be a way around the issues.

Leeds have PSR plan for Jorgen Strand Larsen

Strand Larsen was close to a Wolves exit in the summer transfer window, with Newcastle United having a bid for the 25-year-old rejected.

His form has dropped off this season, though, and he has only managed one Premier League goal from 19 appearances, a big decrease from the 14 he scored last term.

However, Leeds still clearly feel as though he is worth pursuing, and they have a plan to get the deal over the line.

According to Leeds Live, Farke’s side has to create financial headroom to bring the centre-forward to LS11 on a permanent transfer.

The Whites could spread the payment out over the length of the contract with amortisation, though, rather than taking the PSR hit all at once.

Some of the transfer fee would then effectively be paid further down the line, rather than being included in this year’s accounts.

Leeds don’t need to break the bank for Strand Larsen

Since the start of December, Farke has drastically turned the situation around at Elland Road.

The Whites looked to be sleepwalking to relegation, but 14 points from their last nine Premier League games have lifted them well clear of the drop zone.

Lukas Nmecha’s last-minute winner secured Leeds a 1-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday, with the result leaving them eight points above West Ham United, who currently sit 18th.

With the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha flying, Farke’s side don’t need to break the bank for Strand Larsen.

If the deal is there to be done at a reasonable price, then it should be pursued, but the financial stability of the club shouldn’t be risked for it.
