Teen ace shares transfer story about himself on Instagram which says he’s set to join Leeds
Young Dutch goalkeeper Dani van den Heuvel has added weight to rumours suggesting he’s set to join Leeds United based on his social media activity.
The 17-year-old took to his personal Instagram account on Tuesday to confirm that he is leaving Ajax after three years with the Eredivisie giants.
Ajax Showtime then posted a story which said that van den Heuvel rejected a new contract at Ajax in order to move to Leeds and that he is now set to sign for the Yorkshire club.
Interestingly, the Netherlands Under-17 international has shared a link to that report on his Instagram story, which suggests that a deal that takes him to Leeds is going to happen.
Reliable Leeds United account Lufcyouth has also added weight to the claims that van den Heuvel is heading for Elland Road.
They said on their Twitter account that the Dutch shot-stopper is going to join up with the Under-18s side at Thorp Arch.
It just goes to show that Victor Orta is not stopping in his pursuit of unearthing young talent across Europe.
Ever since the Spaniard was hired as director of football in 2017, he has revamped the youth squads at Thorp Arch so they have a much bigger foreign influence in them.
Of course, there have been plenty of flops but Orta has managed to pick up the odd gems like Mateusz Bogusz and Pascal Struijk, who, like van den Heuvel, spent some time at Ajax before moving to Leeds.
Struijk could be a strong ally for van den Heuvel at Leeds.
The Dutch defender is young, can speak the same language as him and showed that you can be good enough to have Marcelo Bielsa hand you a chance in the first-team.
Struijk has a long way to go before he can be considered a major success but the signs have been good so far and he’s someone for van den Heuvel to try and look up to.
