Spotted: Video footage shows player arriving in car park for Leeds medical

Spain forward Rodrigo has been caught on video arriving at Clínica Eresa in Valencia to undergo a medical to join Leeds United.

Onda Deportivo uploaded footage on their Twitter account of Rodrigo, 29, arriving in the car park of the medical facility before making his way into the building.

The Athletic journalist Phil Hay added that Rodrigo’s medical is now “underway”.

Victor Orta had earlier been caught on camera by the Spanish press, with the Leeds director of football all but confirming that a deal is close for Rodrigo by saying he’s “very happy” with the transfer.

Leeds are reportedly set to pay around £30million for Rodrigo, which will smash their previous transfer record which is the £18million swoop for Rio Ferdinand in 2000.

Rodrigo has scored or assisted 100 goals in his 220 appearances for Valencia over the last five years while also winning the 2019 Copa del Rey.

The former Benfica striker has had a spell in English football before when he endured a tough spell on loan at Bolton in 2010/11.

Speaking in 2014 about that stint at Bolton, as quoted by Bolton News, Rodrigo said: “It was a spectacular year. The Premier League is unlike any other in the world.

“It was important for my evolution and also my physical condition.

“You need to be strong to play in England. I wasn’t a regular starter for Bolton but I did get a lot of minutes. I enjoyed it.”

Rodrigo’s come a long way since the 2010/11 season.

He’s now a player who’s proven himself in La Liga and the Champions League while also earning 22 caps for the Spanish national team.

Rodrigo’s played at the World Cup, scored against England in the Nations League and looks every bit as though he’s worth the massive fee Leeds are set to pay for him.
