Sporting CP want to sign Leeds United star Luis Sinisterra before transfer deadline

Sporting CP want to sign Leeds United attacker Luis Sinisterra before Friday’s transfer deadline, according to a report by O Jogo.

Writing on their official website (29 August), the Portuguese news outlet report that the club want to bolster their attacking options and Sinisterra is one of the names on their list.

Brentford winger Mikkel Damsgaard is their primary target but if a deal can’t be done for him they will turn their attentions to Sinisterra, although a fee isn’t mentioned nor is whether he or Leeds are open to an exit at this stage of the window.

“Mikkel Damsgaard is on the left winger list. Wants to leave and leonine SAD evaluates possibilities. Sinisterra, from Leeds, is also on the table,” they wrote.

“Also the Colombian Luis Sinisterra, faster and more explosive, is in the considerations. He plays for Leeds, in the Championship, and was even removed from the main group, demanding to leave at no cost due to the fact that the team was relegated to the Championship. Leeds paid Feyenoord €25m for the player a year ago.”

Not the end of it

Many fans were under the impression that once Daniel Farke brought Luis Sinisterra back into the squad at Elland Road following his refusal to play for the club, that the issue was over and done with.

He and Wilfried Gnonto were brought back into the squad by the boss, both played and scored in the 4-3 win over Ipswich at the weekend which helped get them back in favour of the fans.

But with days remaining in the window the noise around Sinisterra’s future simply won’t go away and if Sporting come in with a big bid then nobody knows how he will react.

Until the window slams shut then it’s clear that anything could happen, and a move to a club playing in the Europa League is no doubt going to appeal to him above playing in the Championship.

It’s clear that Leeds have all the leverage in this situation at this stage though and while it is surely unlikely that he leaves now, it simply cannot be ruled out.
