Sky Sports name two Leeds players who could exit to facilitate Strand Larsen deal as price set

Leeds United are interested in signing Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves, but players will first have to move on.

It was reported on Friday that Leeds have approached Wolves over Strand Larsen, albeit to simply express their interest at this stage.

However, Wolves value Strand Larsen at £40million, which would be a club-record transfer for Leeds if they do indeed pursue it.

Given the well-publicised PSR constraints the Whites are already working under, the only way to afford a big-money signing such as that would be to first bring in more funds.

Joel Piroe exit could pave way for Jorgen Strand Larsen deal

Joel Piroe has been touted as a target for Celtic, while Jack Harrison is also on the verge of leaving Leeds for Serie A strugglers Fiorentina.

And it may well be that those two Elland Road exits, and whatever fees they eventually bring in, could pave the way for Daniel Farke’s side to make moves of their own.

In an update provided by Jo Wilson on Sky Sports News on Friday afternoon, she said: “Leeds have made an enquiry for Jorgen Strand Larsen, who is valued at £40m by Wolves.

He’s attracting interest from a number of clubs, including West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.

Leeds say they are aware of this competition for Strand Larsen. They also have to be aware of PSR this window.

Departures could help Leeds make room for incomings, with Jack Harrison closing in on a loan move to Fiorentina with an option to buy for £6million. Also Joel Piroe, who is attracting interest from Celtic.”

Beyond those two players, it does not appear as though any other first-team squad members are close to departing.

How does Strand Larsen compare to Dominic Calvert-Lewin

It is no massive surprise that Leeds are looking to further strengthen in attack, but eyebrows will be raised at the fact that Strand Larsen is seemingly the man wanted.

At £40m, it is a deal that makes little sense. If that fee can be knocked down considerably, then maybe so.

Strand Larsen’s struggles this season are well known, with the Norway international scoring just one goal in 19 Premier League matches.

Calvert-Lewin, by comparison, has scored nine in the same number of matches – a rate of 0.5 goals per game and 0.1 goal per game respectively.

Strand Larsen would be joining Leeds as first-choice striker if that type of fee is anything to go by, but Calvert-Lewin is simply the better option of the two.
